Chemcaster Upgrade Complete
Previously-announced maintenance for Chemcaster is now complete. The upgrade features support for multiple applications using the same Registry through the Log resource. Also included is documentation for the Ruby and PHP clients.
The administrative interface now shows the last twenty events logged on each Registry home page:

Chemcaster is the cheminformatics Web services platform optimized for rapid creation of chemistry-focussed websites. It supports compound registration, exact- and substructure search, and dynamic 2D structure image creation, both through a browser-based administrative interface and a RESTful Web API.

Chemcaster Upgrades This Tuesday
We're upgrading Chemcaster again! The service will experience a brief period of downtime starting at 5:00 PM PST today (September 22). We expect the upgrade process to last no longer than five minutes.
The most important change will be the addition of a new resource - Log - that will enable multiple applications created with Chemcaster to use the same Registry. Also in store will be updated documentation, including pages describing the installation and example use of the Ruby and PHP Chemcaster clients.

Chemcaster Maintenance Complete
Previously-announced Chemcaster maintenance has been completed. You should notice changes to the administrative interface as well as improvements to the API documentation and the API itself.
A new Ruby client reflecting changes to the API should be available as a gem shortly. Updates to the PHP client are expected within the next few days.
Minor upgrades in the next few days will focus on streamlining the administrative interface and in providing an events log for each Registry to enable synchronization of the same Registry among multiple applications.

Chemcaster Upgrades This Friday: Multi-Component Registration, Better Documentation, and Fixes to JSON Representations
There's more scheduled maintenance on the way for Chemcaster on Friday September 18, 2009 at 5:00pm PDT. The biggest part of the upgrade will consist of adding a new resource: Registration, which will enable registration of multi-Component Substances, such as salts, fractional hydrates, complexes, and stereoisomer mixtures. Initially, only single-Component Substances will be accepted, but this restriction will be lifted in future upgrades. Substances will no longer be directly created, edited, or destroyed - that will happen by manipulating the corresponding Registration.
In addition to these model-level changes, the new API will feature improved documentation and will fix inconsistencies in some JSON representations.
A new Ruby client version capable of fully using the new API should be available at the time of the upgrades. A revised PHP client should follow shortly.

Major Chemcaster Maintenance Complete
Chemcaster scheduled maintenance is now complete. This was a major update that included:
- Support for multi-component Substances as the primary resource used by Registries.
- Much more detailed API documentation, including sample requests/responses for every method allowed on every resource.
- Addition of an API version stamp for better integration of clients.
- Exposure of substructure search pagination through a new Execution resource for more efficient structure-based queries.
Unfortunately, these changes have now rendered obsolete the current versions of the recently-released Chemcaster PHP and Ruby clients. We anticipate updates for both clients shortly.
